Alex Brideau leads the firm's coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war and the broader Eurasia region. He examines developments related to NATO-Russia tensions, US and EU sanctions, Ukraine's politics and economic reforms, Russia's turn toward China and Asia-Pacific markets, and Russia's relationships with states in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Prior to joining Eurasia Group in 2002, Alex worked as a staff reporter for Energy Intelligence Group in Washington and for Pasha Publications in Arlington, Virginia. Alex holds a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a bachelor's degree in foreign service from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He speaks Russian and Japanese.
