Eurasia Group names new CEO Maziar Minovi

10 June 2019

New York, 10 June – Eurasia Group is pleased to announce that Maziar Minovi has been named chief executive officer, effective immediately. He joined the firm in March as managing director. In his role as CEO, Minovi will be responsible for directing firm strategy and leading oversight of research, sales, and operations teams across Eurasia Group's global offices.

“Maziar brings an extraordinary blend of managerial talent and deep analytic insight to the CEO position. He's uniquely respected by my colleagues both inside the firm and out,” said Ian Bremmer, Eurasia Group and GZERO Media president. “It's deeply rewarding to build Eurasia Group with such a wonderful and trusted friend. I'm confident that under his leadership, the firm will expand our role as the premier platform for understanding the world.”

“I came to Eurasia Group because of its world-leading political analysis and its ability to identify global macro trends at the intersection of politics, economics, technology, and climate,” said Minovi. “I'm looking forward to further enhancing the market relevance of our innovative analysis and helping make Eurasia Group the place to come to make sense of global politics.”

Minovi is Eurasia Group's second CEO, succeeding Robert Johnston who stepped down in 2018 to focus specifically on the firm's Global Energy and Natural Resources practice.

Minovi has twenty-five years of experience investing in international and emerging markets. He was a senior member of the Investment Strategy Group at Goldman Sachs, where he identified investment opportunities in emerging markets—including in debt, equities, and currencies—as well as geopolitical and global policy issues with market impact. Prior to that, Minovi was the head of the Emerging Markets Group at MassMutual/Babson Capital Management. He has also worked for the International Monetary Fund, Long Term Capital Management, Putnam Investment Management, and the World Bank.

Minovi holds a doctorate in international finance and economic development, a master of business administration, and a bachelor of business administration from George Washington University. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. (Full bio)
