Maziar has twenty-five years of experience investing in international and emerging markets. Previously, he was a senior member of the Investment Strategy Group at Goldman Sachs responsible for emerging markets and macro investments, drawing on his expertise in the economic and market impact of geopolitics. Before his time at Goldman, Maziar was head of the Emerging Markets Group at MassMutual/Babson Capital Management. He also worked at the IMF, LTCM, Putnam Investment Management, and the World Bank.
Maziar's interest in international politics started involuntarily when the Iranian Revolution interrupted his teenage years. It grew from there in later academic and career pursuits. He holds a doctorate in international finance and economic development, an MBA, and a bachelor's in business administration from George Washington University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and sits on the board of Pardis for Children, Inc., a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to Persian language and culture.
Maziar and his wife enjoy spending time with their three busy kids in Brooklyn, as empty-nester status gets closer by the day. Otherwise, he is living out his alternative dream career on nearby tennis courts.
