Takashi Okabe is the head of office, Japan at Eurasia Group. He specializes in analyzing how global political developments shape corporate strategy, governance, and risk management. His recent work focuses on translating geopolitical intelligence into actionable processes for executives—helping organizations strengthen decision‑making, align strategy with emerging risks, and build resilient operating frameworks.
Before joining Eurasia Group in November 2026, Takashi served as the Japan representative for Control Risks from 2021 to 2026. In that role, he supported government agencies and multinational corporations with complex international challenges, including executive protection for VIPs in conflict zones, responses to major incidents such as kidnapping and detention, and threat assessments in highly hostile environments. He also advised senior leadership teams on enterprise risk management, business continuity planning, and crisis preparedness.
Takashi began his career at Mizuho Bank and later held roles at Citigroup, KPMG, and Deloitte Tohmatsu. He holds a bachelor's degree in policy management from Keio University and completed the Executive Leadership Programme at Oxford University. He frequently writes and speaks for outlets such as Nikkei and Forbes. When he is not working, Takashi enjoys playing piano, sailing, and practicing the Japanese tea ceremony (Sado Enshu school).
