Strahinja (“Strax”) Matejić is a director of Eurasia Group's Geostrategy team, overseeing the firm's diverse client portfolio worldwide, ranging from the public sector, governments, and professional services to philanthropies and foundations. Previously, Strax worked for six years in the Office of the President, leading government outreach for Eurasia Group's founder and president, Ian Bremmer.
Prior to joining the firm, Strax focused on transatlantic relations, and he was affiliated with several diplomatic, research, and think tank organizations in the US and Europe, including the UN, Serbia's US embassy, the German Marshall Fund, the Office of International Relations at the Smithsonian Institution, and several NGOs in southeast Europe.
Strax holds a master's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, as well as a diplomatic certificate from Georgetown's Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. He earned a bachelor's degree with honors in political science and German from Grinnell College. He also studied at Heidelberg and Humboldt universities in Germany.
Strax, who is based in New York City with his family, sees regular trips to his home city of Belgrade as nothing but a slightly longer commute.
