Graeme Thompson is a senior analyst with Eurasia Group's Global Macro team, where he helps clients navigate geopolitical tensions, shifting patterns of globalization, and emerging global trends. He also leads Eurasia Group's coverage of Canada with a focus on US-Canada relations and North American trade, defense, energy, and technology policies. For 2026-27, Graeme is a research associate at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.

Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Graeme was an Ernest May Fellow in History and Policy, also at the Harvard Kennedy School. Previously, he served as a policy advisor and speechwriter in the foreign policy planning division at Global Affairs Canada and held visiting fellowships at Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and the University of Toronto.

Graeme holds a doctorate in history from the University of Oxford, a master's degree in international relations from the London School of Economics, and BA (hons) in political science from the University of Western Ontario. A long-suffering Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan, he is always optimistic about next year.
