Before joining Eurasia Group, Gerard was an associate director at the RAND China Research Center, a senior geoeconomics analyst at Bloomberg Economics, and a senior fellow in the Economics Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC. He spent 11 years in the US intelligence community as a senior economic analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency and a deputy national intelligence officer at the National Intelligence Council. He holds a BA in economics and philosophy from Dartmouth College.
