Mujtaba (Mij) Rahman leads and oversees the firm's analysis and advisory work on Europe, helping clients to navigate the macro-politics of Brussels and its interaction with the member states, across a wide range of policy areas. These include the EU's management of the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout, UK-EU trade negotiations, the EU's Green New Deal, Eurozone fiscal policy and politics, European Central Bank politics, Franco-German relations and policy, as well as institutional politics in Brussels.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Mujtaba worked at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs and at the UK Treasury. He is an adjunct professor at New York University's Stern Business School and Sciences-Po in Paris, as well as a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics. He teaches political risk to graduate students at all three institutions. He is likewise a non-resident fellow at ESADE Business School's Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics and is regularly quoted by the Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Economist, Bloomberg, and many other media outlets. He is also a contributing author to Politico Europe, where he writes his monthly “Beyond the Bubble” column.
Mujtaba, who holds master's degrees from Columbia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, speaks French and Urdu.
