NEW YORK (PRWEB) OCTOBER 20, 2022 - With just a few weeks remaining before the deeply consequential midterm elections in the United States, GZERO WORLD with Ian Bremmer hosted a special live-taped show exploring the state of American democracy and the threats confronting its survival from within and abroad. For the first time in the show's five seasons, host Ian Bremmer interviewed acclaimed Washington journalists Susan B. Glasser of The New Yorker and Peter Baker, chief White House correspondent for The New York Times, in front of a studio audience. The special begins airing on public television stations nationwide on Friday, October 21 (check local listings).

Glasser and Barker, authors of the new book The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, sat down with Ian on October 7 at the non-profit art space Chelsea Factory for a wide-ranging conversation about Trump's impact on U.S. politics, Vladimir Putin's nuclear ambitions, Biden's challenging road ahead and more. Watch a clip from the show here.

“The greatest geopolitical crisis in the world is right in Washington,” Glasser says in the episode. “It's right in our midterm election…It's about the United States and whether this superpower can get its act together. And there's no sign of that happening.”

The special builds on the current dynamic season, which has featured a lineup of expert guests including UN Chief Antonio Guterres, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and an exclusive with Colombia's new President Gustavo Petro in his first international English-language interview.

Puppet Regime, featuring the puppet versions of Presidents Putin and Trump, also makes an appearance in this live episode. GZERO WORLD with Ian Bremmer airs weekly on U.S. public television stations nationwide (check local listings). The show is also distributed digitally at GZERO Media and on social media platforms.
