Eurasia Group is proud to announce that Mr. Kei Sakaguchi has joined the firm as its first Japan Country Representative. Sakaguchi has over 30 years of global business experience at Sony and Coca-Cola Japan. In close coordination with the Japan team in New York, his initial areas of focus will be new business development and client support initiatives. The new Tokyo office expands Eurasia Group's global footprint, with its headquarters in New York and offices in Washington, DC and London.
Eurasia Group has worked for more than a decade with clients in Japan, the firm's largest Asian market. A dedicated client services staff based in New York supports those efforts, making regular trips to Tokyo along with analysts, the firm's president and founder, Ian Bremmer, and CEO, Robert Johnston. This new in-country capability will enhance the firm's ability to develop new business opportunities in Japan, as well as support our existing client relationships.
Sakaguchi's 27-year tenure at Sony encompassed a breadth of key corporate support functions, including time spent in the late 1980s working directly with Sony co-founder, Chairman & CEO, Akio Morita, as an external affairs executive. He finished his service with Sony in 2007 as General Manager of Corporate PR. Since then, he has worked in public affairs management roles with Coca-Cola (Japan) and most recently, Meltwater Japan, where he strengthened the firm's branding, marketing, business partnerships and client services in Japan.
"We are pleased to be able to offer our Japanese clients enhanced service and support through the establishment of our new Japan office," said Eurasia Group CEO Robert Johnston. "Sakaguchi-san will be an important asset to us and our clients in the region, and we look forward to future engagement and growth."
Eurasia Group's Japan office is located at Level 20, Marunouchi Trust Tower - Main, 1-8-3 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan 100-0005.
