NEW YORK, 30 November 2022 – Eurasia Group is proud to announce the appointment of renowned Asian affairs expert Chris Johnson as a senior advisor to the firm. Johnson will help shape and further enrich Eurasia Group's China analysis and offerings, drawing on his years of experience with commercial, economic, foreign, and security issues related to the country.
As the president and CEO of China Strategies Group, Johnson's insights have been critical for clients pursuing business opportunities in China and the broader Asian region. In addition to his work advising multinationals, Johnson draws on nearly two decades of experience in the intelligence and foreign affairs communities providing advice to senior White House, congressional, military, and foreign officials.
While serving as a senior China analyst at the CIA, Johnson played key roles in analytic support during defining moments such as the 1996 Taiwan Strait missile crisis, the 1999 accidental bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, and the 2003 SARS epidemic, among others. He was an intelligence liaison to two secretaries of state and in 2011 was awarded the US Department of State's Superior Honor Award for outstanding support to the secretary and senior staff. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Johnson is also a senior fellow on Chinese politics at the Asia Society and a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Find his full bio here.
