About Eurasia Group
Eurasia Group provides the marketplace with a comprehensive and integrated set of political risk solutions. Our clients range from macro hedge funds to institutional investors, from family businesses to the world's largest multinational corporations. What they all share is a desire to better manage the risks and opportunities that flow from politics.
We take a structured approach to understanding these challenges. We provide our clients with both qualitative and quantitative tools to anticipate and manage political risks, and to profit from them. Our multi-faceted approach allows us to adapt to the rapidly evolving world of geopolitics.

Position overview:
The Geo-technology practice is looking for an associate to join the team. The day-to-day work will involve producing research reports, newsletters, presentations, and other deliverables for an array of private sector clients. In this role, you will work closely with other members of the Geo-technology practice and other sector, country, and cross-functional Eurasia Group experts.
This role would suit an early career professional with up to three years of experience in the private sector, a prominent think tank, or a government role working on technology policy issues. This position is based in Eurasia Group’s Washington DC, office, but we are also willing to consider exceptional candidates based in New York and London.
Although we cover technology policy globally, we have a preference for candidates who are proficient in Mandarin and have some knowledge of China’s science and technology landscape.

More specifically, in this role, you will:

  • Develop original research and insight into technology policy and related geopolitical trends. Topics you might be asked to dig into in a given week include policies related to data protection, 5G networks, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, tech-related investment restrictions and export controls, internet platform regulation, cybersecurity and supply chain security issues, competition policy, and cryptocurrency regulation, among others.
  • Turn research into written analytical content and products, including research notes, emails, bespoke reports, newsletters, and other deliverables.
  • Assist in the design and development of new research products and analytical tools, such as policy trackers, informational graphics, and explainers on new topics and themes meriting deeper coverage.
  • Ensure that published research is analytically rigorous, accurate, and delivered on time.
  • Perform original and desk-based research, weigh the credibility of competing and sometimes contradictory sources of information, and connect the dots.
  • Although this role does not include direct client-facing responsibilities, there will be opportunities for successful candidates to take on client-facing responsibilities over time.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Practice Head.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a major European language and EU technology policy would also be an advantage.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced and very demanding work.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual rigor, and strong discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English.
  • Self-starter with exceptional writing skills interested in digging into the details of global tech policy.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and analytically rigorous prose is essential.

At Eurasia Group, we strive to put politics first for our clients. This requires us to maintain a company culture that puts people first. We are committed to fostering an environment that is inclusive, empowering, and globally minded. We firmly believe that diversity in gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, cultural background, religion, disability, and age brings ideas and perspectives to the table that make our analysis stronger for our clients and make our company a better place to work for our people. Our leadership team is committed to embedding diversity and inclusion into everything we do and how we lead.
