Eurasia Group, an independent political risk consultancy, is seeking an experienced and motivated analyst to help interpret and predict Washington political events for financial market and corporate clients. You will be based in the firm's Washington office.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in Congress, the executive branch, or relevant journalism. You will have expertise on a broad range of US policy issues, including fiscal policy, White House politics, immigration, and trade policy. You will also have a working knowledge of US foreign policy. An executive branch appointment or senior policymaking role on Capitol Hill would be helpul. You will have an established network in Washington and a determination to broaden your contact base. You will have an excellent understanding of how US political events impact economic and market outcomes. The ideal candidate would have an established network in the business or financial world in additional to political experience and analytical skill. You may have worked in a partisan political role in the past, but you must have the ability to assess the likelihood of political events without any partisan bias.
In this position, you will analyze what will happen in US politics and how the event will affect markets. You will perform in-depth research and write both short analyses and longer papers on a host of topics. You will participate in client briefings, so you will therefore have excellent analytical, oral, and written presentation skills. You understand deadlines and you write in a good, succinct style in native English standard.
You will have an advanced degree in political science or another relevant discipline and at least 5 years of experience working in or writing about US politics. More experienced candidates are invited to apply.
