Former WSJ Congressional Correspondent Corey Boles joins Eurasia Group as Senior US Analyst

14 October 2013

Eurasia Group is pleased to announce that Corey Boles joined the firm today as a senior analyst in the firm's US practice. Based in Washington, Corey will focus on the budget and fiscal policy debate that has dominated the discourse in the nation's capital for the last three years. At the same time, he will cover all aspects of economic policy emanating from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.

As The Wall Street Journal''s congressional correspondent, Corey was at the forefront of the newspaper's coverage of every major economic and legislative story since the onset of the financial crisis in 2008. His coverage included repeated rounds of debt and deficit fights, ratification of trade deals, the health care overhaul, and stabilization of the financial and auto sectors, as well as the broader economy, in the wake of the crisis.

"Corey brings a level of analytical expertise and congressional knowledge that will keep Eurasia Group at the forefront of preparing business leaders and financial market players to anticipate and manage US political risk at a critical moment," said Sean West, head of Eurasia Group's US practice.

Corey handled a range of beats for Dow Jones Newswires and the WSJ since 2004. Before covering Congress, he focused on telecommunications and competition policy on Capitol Hill. In London, he led reporting on the Bank of England, assisted coverage of the UK Treasury, and filed stories about the UK economy in general. He also worked as a financial services reporter, leading coverage of UK insurers, stock exchanges, and the IPO market.

Prior to his time with Dow Jones, Corey was news editor at Money Marketing, where he managed a team of seven reporters for this weekly financial services trade newspaper, a job that included responsibility for overall news coverage. Earlier, as a reporter there, he covered regulatory issues affecting the retail financial services industry, including the establishment and implementation of the Financial Services Authority, and government policy toward the financial industry.

Corey is an experienced media commentator and is available for print and broadcast interviews.
