Associate Director, Business Development - Japan (New York)
Eurasia Group is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development for its Japan practice. Eurasia Group's Japanese client base spans many sectors, including government agencies, financial institutions, trading companies, energy companies (private and parastatal), manufacturing, automotive, and high-tech/electronics. In this position, you will be responsible for originating new business and relationship management. This role includes selling the full range of our services in Japan, including both retainer-based relationships and tailored consulting projects.
You will have experience in all phases of the business development process from prospect sourcing to pitch, proposal, and ongoing relationship management. You will have documented experience developing business from a variety of sources including your own relationships, referrals, events, and opportunistic targeting. You will have strong interpersonal skills, proven business development ability, and the ability to build and manage relationships with clients. You will regularly coordinate and liaise with the directors of business development, the directors of research, relationship managers for our existing client base, and teams of analysts and staff within our firm. You will therefore work well both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills, and a strong attention to detail.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5 years of relevant professional experience in corporate business development is required for this position. A master's degree in a related field is highly preferred. Applicants are required to have a demonstrable interest in Eurasia Group's core political risk assessment competency. Candidates with backgrounds in similar (research and consulting) fields are strongly preferred. Japanese language ability and cultural fluency is required. Location is extremely flexible for the preferred candidate. A significant training period in New York is required, followed by transfer to Tokyo.
