Analyst, Western Europe (New York, DC, or London) Eurasia Group is seeking an experienced and motivated analyst of western European politics and political economy. The ideal candidate should have a deeper knowledge of one country or sub-region, but must also have a broad understanding of the entire region and key regulatory trajectories in the European Union. In this role, you will assess political risk driven by security and economic developments. You will cover a range of EU countries, but the core emphasis will be on France and Germany, and on the dynamics among the larger members states and EU institutions in Brussels. You will have the ability to analyze political and economic policy agendas of key European Union member states. You will either have, or will develop, the ability to analyze sectoral regulatory issues. You will perform in-depth research and will write both short analyses and longer papers. You will frequently brief both private sector and government clients. You will also understand the management and coordination of complex research projects. You will ensure the timely delivery of high-quality research products, coordinate the activities of analysts and associates with regard to both research and business development. You will have excellent analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills. You understand deadlines and you write in a succinct style at native English standard. You will have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the region, fluency in relevant European languages and an advanced degree in Political Science or another applicable discipline. You understand the relevance of your research to investors and markets. Previous consulting experience is preferred.
