Samm Sacks is a China analyst in Eurasia Group's Asia practice. She focuses on the impact of political leadership on China's industrial and technology policies. Her sectoral coverage includes information technology, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Samm was an analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton and Defense Group Inc., advising U.S. government and Fortune 10 companies on Chinese science and technology development. She has presented research at the Harvard East Asia Society and U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM). Previously, she worked in the Asia Program at the Council on Foreign Relations and in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Her in-country experience includes research as a Fulbright Scholar in Beijing.
Samm holds an MA from Yale University in International Relations and a BA from Brown University in Chinese Literature. She has completed immersive language training with Princeton University in Beijing.
