Demosthenes James Peterson (familiarly known by his initials, "DJ") is the director of Corporate Advisory Services at Eurasia Group. He is chair of the firm's operating committee and is based in New York City.
DJ has more than 20 years of experience as a thought leader and consultant on political and social trends and their implications for markets and businesses around the world. Topics he advises on include international strategy; mergers and acquisitions; risk monitoring and management; and government relations. His clients include leading firms in energy, infrastructure, financial services, automotive, IT, professional services, and consumer and retail.
After receiving his BA from Duke University, DJ received his MA and PhD in political science from UCLA, where he focused on politics and government in Russia. Prior to joining Eurasia Group in 2006, he spent more than 15 years at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, where his final position was as a senior political scientist and acting director of the firm's environment, energy, and economic development program. DJ has published more than 50 articles, reports, and book chapters and his work has been cited by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the US Congress.
