Anne Fruhauf

Anne Fruhauf is an analyst in Eurasia Group's Africa practice, focusing on political risk analysis of South Africa and the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Anne holds a master's degree in history of international relations from the London School of Economics and has studied at the Universities of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and Freiburg, Germany.
Anne has worked and travelled extensively throughout Africa. Prior to joining Eurasia Group, she worked as a senior southern Africa analyst at Control Risks, providing analysis of short-term, market-moving political, business, and security developments in southern Africa for a wide range of corporate, financial, and insurance clients. She has conducted multiple consulting assignments on countries including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Mozambique for clients in the extractive industries, banking, telecom, retail, and agribusiness sectors. Anne has also worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Policy Research (ippr), where she focused on international development issues. She has provided regular commentary for South African and international media. Anne is bilingual in English and German. She also speaks basic French and Spanish, and reads Portuguese.
